In October 99 our troop visited Hawk Mountain Sanctuary in Kempton,
Pa. We chose the trail least traveled. During our descent
we found the trail getting very rocky, and dark due to the foliage. We
explored what looked like a running water stream, however when we arrived
at the bottom we found, literally, a River
of Rocks as shown on the picture. When we stopped for lunch, we paused
to get a photo of our posse. Our trek
up the Golden Eagle Trail was intense due to the steep incline.
Reaching
the North Wall was a relief after that long hard climb - from this
vantage point it sure looked like
God's
Country. When we finished up our trail, we scaled the North Outlook
only to find many people with cameras and binoculars watching for hawks.
They were just as surprised to see us as we were to see them. This is the
view from the North Outlook.
