Ride #2 - 10 mi - Hand turn signals will be used (and tested) at all rides
                 (Also need Parental support to ride and/or supervise)
From St. Catherine's:  Lap 1 - (4 mi)
    Left onto Centerville Rd
    Right onto Lancaster Pike (Rt. 48)
    Right onto Center Rd (Rt. 141)
    Right onto Faulkland Rd          (be very careful - no shoulder)
    Right onto Centerville Rd  for 1 more lap
then
    Left onto Centerville Rd
    Out to Rt. 48 -
    Return to St.Catherine's

    Helmets Always Required

    Walk Left - Ride Right - STOP at all Red lights and Stop signs.

    Buddy System Applies - bring BUDDY ropes from uniform

    Bring Water

2008 - Wilmington Grand Prix Cycling - Sat May 17 @ 1:00 pm
         - Chase will attempt to break Guinness World Record mark of 1901 bikes, Last year they had 459 paricipants.

Short list of requirements:
    Bicycle Adjustments / oiling / safety
    Repair a flat
    Bicycle Inspection
    Each rider must report on each ride for the badge.
        2 rides of 10 mi each
        2 rides of 15 mi each
        2 rides of 25 mi each
        1 ride   of 50 mi within 8 hours
    Ride suggestions must be planned and measured before ridden.

     Planning:     (Parental support to ride and/or supervise will be welcome)
        I have not worked out all the details yet - missing names will be filled in shortly...

        Rt. 4 has very wide shoulders - should not be a problem for bikers...
        Ross - has volunteered to be the starter and counter for the rides...
        I expect to ride with the Scouts to resolve any problems along the way.
        Do we need Tour Permits ?
        Do we need to notify county police ?
 

Ride #3 - 10 mi
Start @ Kmart on Rt. 7 - North on Rt. 7 - West on 273 thru Newark - on Chapel St. - East on ?? road out of Newark - back to Rt. 273 - Left onto Ruthar Drive - Left onto Red Mill Rd - cross over Kirkwood Highway  - Polly Drummond Hill Rd - Right onto New Linden Hill Rd - return to Kmart.

Ride #4 - 15 mi - [need to measure this route] - at least 12 maybe 15...
Faulkland Rd - Rockford Park - Brandywine Park - Market St. (Rodney Square) - Blue Rocks Stadium - returning 9th St. - Greenhill Rd - Cleveland Ave. - Faulkland Rd.

Ride #5 - 25 mi - My regular exercise 20 mi - [need to add 5 miles] {larger loop thru Newark} or [use for 15 mi trip]
Old Capitol Trail - Stanton Rd - Rt. 4 - Marrows Rd - East on 273 - [continue on Rt. 4 - Right onto Rt. 72 - Right onto Rt. 273 to get the extra 5 miles] - return behind what was MBNA - Rt. 4 - Stanton Rd (thru development - no shoulder) - Old Capitol Trail - Centerville Rd [flat]

Ride #6 - 25 mi - [need to measure this route]
Faulkland Rd - Rt. 141 (sidewalk) - North Rt. 52 to State Line (tap foot in PA) - return Rt. 52 - to Blue Rocks Stadium - returning 9th St. - Greenhill Rd - Cleveland Ave. - Faulkland Rd  [hilly]
 
 

Ride #7 - 50 mi - 8 hours

Suggestion #1 - Harper's Ferry   W.Va., Camp 25 miles out... Bike in, Have Lunch, Bike Back... - Day Packs

Suggestion #2 - Milbourne Orchards or Fair Hill Start @ Kmart across from Goldy Beacom College - north on Rt. 7 - Left onto rt. 72 thru Newark - right turn onto Cleveland Ave. - right turn onto 273 - continue to Appelton Rd (27 mi) -- then return after eating packed lunch - Day Packs .

Suggestion #3 - Valley Forge State Park has access to Schuylkill River Bike Trail, down to Philadelphia Art Museum and back

GORP - Schuylkill River Bicycle Trail    oops only 24 miles round trip, however there are extended trails connecting...
